AIA Life Insurance Company Limited ("AIA Life") is a wholly owned life insurance subsidiary of AIA Group and operates AIA's life insurance business in Mainland China. With its first branch office established in Shanghai in 1992, AIA became one of the first non-domestic insurance organizations to be issued with a business license after the Reform and Opening of China, and the first insurance company to introduce the insurance agent system into the country. In June 2020, AIA was approved to convert the Shanghai branch of AIA Company Limited into AIA Life Insurance Company Limited. In July 2020, AIA Life officially became the first wholly foreign-owned life insurance company in Mainland China.
